Documents for junior and senior hockey players in Europe

Three independent document tracks

Sports registration, the right to stay and work in the country, and education for a junior are separate processes. Readiness in one track does not automatically provide clearance in another.

Core package for every player

• a valid passport and details of any second citizenship;
• player and legal-representative contact details;
• current statistics, profile and video;
• current club, contract and playing-rights information;
• a written club invitation or offer;
• medical information and insurance to the extent required by the club and country.

Additional items for a junior

• parental or legal-guardian consent where required;
• a birth certificate or proof of relationship if requested;
• school, academy or study-programme documents;
• accommodation, guardianship and responsible-adult arrangements;
• age eligibility and rules for international transfers of minors.

Requirements for a child travelling without both parents differ by country. Check them with the consulate and border authorities before purchasing travel.

Additional items for a senior player

• a signed agreement covering role, duration, pay and termination;
• employer or club details for the immigration process;
• the legal basis for residence and work;
• tax, social-security and insurance obligations;
• written confirmation of league registration.

Building the file

Ask the club for an individual checklist naming the authority, document format, translation, apostille and validity period. Keep originals and secure copies, and do not surrender a passport to an unknown intermediary.
